Every year, the City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, through their Community Relations Committee, come together to expand our community's observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day through the Charlotte-Mecklenburg MLK National Holiday Celebration. One staple event is the parade, where over 100 community organizations, marching bands, and step and drill teams weave through the streets of uptown Charlotte. Registration for the parade, which will be on Saturday, Jan. 17, is open now. The deadline to register is Saturday, Dec. 13.
