R. Lee Robertson, Jr. (he/him/his) is a litigation partner at Robertson & Associates, P.A., a boutique business litigation law firm with offices in Charlotte, Asheville and Nashville. Lee concentrates his practice in complex commercial and construction litigation, employment law, and nonprofit organization representation.


Lee’s litigation practice primarily involves representing businesses in disputes of all types, including construction liens and defects, contracts, employee noncompetition agreements, discrimination actions and real estate transactions. Lee has tried numerous jury trials to verdict, and since 2012, has been awarded judgments for his clients totaling more than $50,000,000. Lee is admitted to all North Carolina state courts, as well federal courts for the Western, Middle and Eastern Districts of North Carolina and the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals.


Lee represents more than 100 nonprofits organizations, including churches, synagogues, mosques, museums, schools, trade associations, home owners associations, and social service organizations through their complete lifecycle, including formation and dissolution, governance and organization, employee retention and termination, contract development, fundraising, licensing, tax exemption, and disputes.


Lee is active in the Mecklenburg County Bar, where he serves as a member of its Board of Directors and chairs the Bar Leadership Institute. Lee also serves as a member of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Construction Law Section Council and is a member of the Justice Bobbitt Inn of Court. Lee regularly speaks to lawyers across North Carolina on a variety of topics including construction liens, nonprofit representation and law office administration. In 2021, Business North Carolina magazine named Lee to its "Legal Elite," which recognizes the top 4% of North Carolina lawyers, as selected by active North Carolina lawyers.


Lee a native Charlottean, and is very engaged in the community. He serves as a member of the Keith Family YMCA Board of Managers, Chair of the Board of Directors for RAIN, Inc., Treasurer for the Board of Directors for Charlotte Pride, Inc. and on the Board of Advisors for the Charlotte Lesbian and Gay Fund. In 2020, he co-chaired the Human Rights Campaign North Carolina Gala.
