About
I have always been an active participant in the LGBTQ+ community, whether it was here in Charlotte or in Kansas City, Missouri where I lived for 11 years before coming back. I was a member of the Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce through my work at DST Systems and while was working at Amazon later. At Amazon, I was a member of BEN, the Black Employee Network and the Glamazons, the LGBTQ employee group. In the past here in Charlotte, I was a member of OutCharlotte and the festival steering committee. As a Black, gay senior now, it is more important now than ever for representation in the business sector as well as the social sector of our communities.
Owning a small business is yet another pivot for me. I lost my job in February of 2024 and came back to Charlotte in March. Since I was not able to find a job, which is still a challenge in Charlotte without a car even in 2025, I decided to take early retirement and start a professional services small business to supplement that. Which brings me to the Carolinas LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce. I have never owned a business so alongside a mentorship program I am in for my business, I am hoping to learn other aspects that can fit my business and get it growing. And I hope I can help create a bigger presence for the chamber going forward.
